GRIOT BOOK SERIES
Griot, 2020
The first Griot is a forty-eight-page love letter to life, family, friends, and photography. I shot it on black-and-white film and released it independently in October 2020.
Making the book meant doing the whole thing: photographing, sequencing, editing, designing, publishing, and finding the people who would read it.
Publications in the series
Griot: The Fly on the Wall followed in 2022, moving through friends, family, public figures, New York, and Paris. Griot: Against the Sky arrived in 2024 as the longest and most personal book in the series.
Each publication has its own page here. The physical edition of Against the Sky is unavailable, so I keep the complete PDF open to read.
After the book leaves
Some of my favorite images are not in the books. They are photographs of people holding them, reading them, passing them around, or letting them live on a shelf.
A publication changes once it leaves my hands. It enters a room, a friendship, or a conversation I could not have designed on my own.
