GRIOT: AGAINST THE SKY
The most ambitious Griot to date
Against the Sky was the third and most ambitious book in the Griot series to that point. It gathers family, stillness, friendship, travel, and the everyday moments that held my photographic life together.
The book moves across New York, Maryland, and Paris. It is a love letter to my grandparents, who inspired so much of the way I see, and to the friends and family who have been there for me.
A photographic record up to that moment
The longer format gave the work room to breathe. Against the Sky became a fuller summation of my photography up to 2024, with quiet family pictures living beside movement, distance, celebration, and return.
Uma Fodar co-edited the book with me. My older sister, artist Cici Osias, closes it with an afterword titled “One Day, I Want You to Join Me Against the Sky.”
The physical edition was never produced. I released the complete PDF so the book could still be read.
